Work | Sattar
This is the 1,500 sf headquarters for Sattar & Associates, a boutique financial services firm in Hawthorne, CA. Located in an existing bowtruss warehouse previously in use as a medical office, LOC worked to enhance the openness and drama of the existing structure through a process of strategically stripping the excess material and introducing daylight and views.
.
.
In a 1,500 sf footprint, LOC was able to accommodate open office space for 12 workstations, three private offices, a conference room, break area, and mail room.
.
The large window that was introduced at the back of the conference room bather it in natural light, which is then admitted to the open office area via expansive glazing.
.
.
.
The removal of the dropped ceiling creates a dramatic verticality to the space, exposes the warmth of the existing wood bow trusses, and creates the opportunity to admit daylight via solatubes.
.
The diagrams show the process of designing a more open and bright office space.
Through the removal of unnecessary walls and ceilings, the unique bow trusses are exposed and the office features a more open layout.
Layers of transparency are added to connect the office to the street visually, as well as bring sunlight in. Solatubes are introduced on the roof to disperse light equally into the space.
