Work | Hancock

Hancock is a 6,700 sf, six unit multi-family project on a 6,000 sf single family parcel in West Hollywood, CA. The project is across the street from a series of historic craftsman homes and was carefully articulated to minimize the street presence of its four story mass, located over underground parking.

.

.

An oblique view illustrates how the building steps back from the street strategically to create a series of outdoor terraces. A sensitive material palette was used to integrate the building into the residential character of the neighborhood.

.

A grade level open space was configured to face the street to create a vibrant focal point for the experience of the project.

.

.

.

These diagrams illustrate how the massing, units, and open space were distributed strategically to achieve the final design.

.

As a result, no two units are alike, as can be seen in this exploded view.

.

.

.

The exterior material language was used to tie these elements together in cohesive whole.
